Study Circles are another technique that has a variety of different uses and variations. At it’s core a study circle comprises a small group of people, usually between 5 -12 who look at a particular subject in depth and develop some recommendations or decisions from their study.
Variations include:
Who establishes the Circles?
Who provides the information?
Meeting resources eg: venue or facilitator?
Possibilities include:
• The participants themselves,
• Government
• A Non Government Agency
Is there a specific topic? Sometimes it is left to the participants, sometimes it is the reason
for the study circle. Topics have included:
• What should be the Abortion Policy for (this country)?
• How might we best overcome racism in our neighbourhood?
• What might be the key ways to progress development of our community?
